From week 1 to week 9 in ES1102, I have learned the basic grammar rules that I was not familiar with before. Besides, I have learned the structures of reflective essay, summary, reader response and problem solution essay. Learning the techniques of extracting the main points, evaluating, giving own opinions and citing have prepared me for my future assignments. My overall content, structure and context have improved and I am more confident in writing now. I learned how to find extra information to support my points of view and strengthen my essays. However, I am not very satisfied with my work as I still make careless mistakes and unable to express my ideas clearly. As my first semester in NUS is approaching its end, I know I have to work harder to catch up. From week 10 to week 12, I would like to learn how to write coherent and informative sentences. My weakness is that I can only make very simple and basic sentences, which are definitely below the standard which an undergraduate should have. To improve on these, I would need to learn more vocabularies and absorb new information from various sources to be able to evaluate things from different perspectives.
D06 is the first class that I have both visual and audio feedback from my teacher. The audio feedback is really helpful, especially when I do not know how to make changes to improve my work. Comments that can be expressed by visual feedback are limited, therefore I found an audio feedback conveys clearer messages. I really liked the method and I have definitely benefited from it. It will be fantastic if I have audio and written feedback in my other courses too. With the help of the feedback, I can learn and benefit from them. Most of the time, I would make changes to the errors in my essays. Although I might not be confident with my corrections, I would try my best to complete my task. However, in few cases, I did not make the changes because I understood the comments but did not know how to change them. When I was asked to rate my grade for my content, organisation and language on my reader response, I didn't really know how to do it as I think I still have a lot to improve. I don't think I was accurate about the rating but it was at least a guide to myself.
The English module, ES1102 is a pathway that guided me through academic writing. I really appreciate the efforts made by my teacher and the help of my friends.

Correction: Reflective Writing --my English language learning journey
Throughout my studies in primary school, I had never really understood “grammar”. To pass the English Tests, I had to guess and try my luck. In the second year of my secondary school, I was taught by an experienced English teacher, Ms Meagan. She explained all the grammar rules clearly and patiently. Besides, she gave a lot of examples and exercises so that we could understand. Unlike my previous teachers, who made students do exercises in class and gave answers without discussing, she went through all the exercises again and again just to let us have a clearer picture of what grammar is.
At first, I panicked as I always got the concepts wrong and could not answer her questions. The amount of homework given made me feel like giving up. I was embarrassed whenever I was in Ms Meagan's class. Nevertheless, eventually my English improved as I learned from the mistakes. I was surprised when I realized my English improved very fast. I became confident and determined to work harder to achieve better results. I used to be afraid of English as it was an unfamiliar language to me. She had inspired me to learn English better. Without her, I would not have qualified the English requirements to pursue my dream in NUS.
To learn something well, we have to start from the fundamental. For me, to learn English well, I have to equip myself with basic grammar knowledge, which is very important for my further studies. I will not be able to deliver my ideas clearly if I cannot use a language appropriately. Having only the grammar skill is not enough. To improve further, I need to learn new vocabularies so that I can convey my ideas in a coherent and fluent way. I should also be brave to open up and speak more to enhance my oral skills. Although presenting ideas using English is challenging, I will try my best and seek for help from teachers and friends.
